June 19th, 2010 - Back From the North America & All New My Space Page! My new MY SPACE page is online today - enjoy & check it out with a new gallery of the tour in North America. US & Canada was great. Thx to the fans and all supporters for a great time & experience. I'm back with more news later!
May 18th, 2010 - Primal Fear North America Tour & Tribute to RJD ...... arrived in NYC and already enjoyed some hrs of sleep ...... let me pass you some lines aboutthe tragic loss of Ronnie James Dio. I've toured with him twice and played a lot of festival with him & his bands over the years. I never recognized that he had just one average day on tour. Not even on a longer tour. He was a phenomenon and a very friendly & positive gentleman.
There was one great moment I want to share with you, as we played a festival together in Granada Spain and the backstage area was packed with bands, crews, friends, guests etc. and just minutes after his show he was walking straight into my direction with his roadmanager Willie Fyffe and hugged me. This was a moment I will never forget - Ronnie James Dio will be alive in my heart and one of my biggest inspirations forever!
Mat Sinner, NYC - May 2010

Frontiers Records proudly announces the release of PRIMAL FEAR new studio album 16.6 (Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead) on May 22nd in Europe and June 9th in the USA.
’s history. The vibe of songs like the opening track “Riding The Eagle”, “Killbound” or “Under The Radar” are reminiscent of the “Nuclear Fire” album but eh whole album features all the trademarks of the Primal Fear sound a the total dedication to pure Metal. There is also a new approach mixed with the trademark PF riffs in tracks like “Six Times Dead (16.6)”, “Soar”, “Smith & Wesson” as well as the epic stories, consummate musicianship, courage and fantastic melodies in songs like “Black Rain”, “No Smoke Without Fire”, “Torn” and the stylistically new ballad “Hands Of Time” with 4 band members all sharing the lead-vocals.
“Our target was to write and produce the most diverse and interesting album in the history of Primal Fear and combine our past with the future” says Mat Sinner. ”The result went truly beyond our expectations and it will be a huge challenge to play these new songs on stage! The entire band is very proud of 16.6 and we hope all our old and even new fans will be totally satisfied!”
The album was recorded at the House Of Music studios with engineer Dennis Ward, mixing engineer Achim Koehler and producer Mat Sinner. Mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound New York. Once again Primal Fear display a very high standard of song writing, sound and production. New guitarist Magnus Karlsson and Henny Wolter shine with a new dimension to the guitar work, and lead vocalist Ralf Scheepers reaches a new level to his vocal performances. Nothing can go wrong if you’re backed by one of the best rhythm sections in metal with Randy Black and Mat Sinner and you can hear the result on Primal Fear’s outstanding new message called 16.6!
Some of the feedback gathered from the press after the listening session include:
“Primal Fear top themselves one more time again with their unique mix out of traditional Metal sounds and modern melodic power metal. How can do they that again and again?” Andreas Schöwe (Metal Hammer Germany)
"Primal Fear manages to take at least one step forward, one backward and still stand for what Primal Fear always has been standing for - pure metal." David Bergström (Sweden Rock)
“First impressions: more variety without losing the Metal balls! Fresh blood and ideas combined with the Primal Fear trademarks, outstanding vocal performance by Ralf again and great guitar work by both Magnus and Henny. Some immediate live favourites, other tracks definitely need time to grow, but sound more than promising and won't disappoint any metal fan that wants more than easy listening stuff” Martin Römpp (Heavy! Germany)
“To date “16.6.“ is Primal Fear ‘s most diversified record; containing a spectrum from Hard Rock up to double-bass driven Power Metal Songs. But one thing is always consistent the quality!!! Gerald Siebenmorgen (Rock It, Germany)
"As the cover artwork shows, Primal Fear ride fiery bullets, play with demons...and fly on butterfly leaded wings. '16.6' marks the evolution of groundbreaking hard rock and power metal, filled with open-minded styles. The Devil knows they're alive!" - Filippo Pagani (Metal Hammer, Italy)

The new Primal Fear album 16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead) is recorded & mixed! Here's the official newsmail by Frontiers Records:
Produced again by Primal Fear's own Mat Sinner and engineered & co-produced by none other than Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69), the new Primal Fear album marks the first full comeback by guitarist Henny Wolter and the debut by one of the worldwide most respected guitarists Magnus Karlsson, since he joined the band one year ago! Wolter & Karlsson both participated in the songwriting and pre-production, which took place at Karlsson's Stuntguitar Studio in Sweden. The band recorded 4 weeks at the famous House Of Music studio incl. Randy Black (drums) and vocalist extraordinaire Ralf Scheepers. After the Xmas break the band recorded some small overdubs and started the mix with long time collaborator Achim Koehler. Finally Ted Jensen mastered the album at the Sterling Sound in New York.
The new Primal Fear album titled with the codename of “16.6” (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead) will be released in May 2009 by Frontiers Records. The new songs will include a lot of the Wolter/Sinner/Scheepers vibe from the “Nuclear Fire” album, then follow the path of “New Religion” and some real surprises! Mat Sinner comments: “I'm really proud of our work. The guys of the band and the entire team did a killer job! I love the crystal clear sound of the album and total dedication of the players. The fans of our first albums will really love the new tracks, plus there are a lot of sophisticated more stuff on 16.6 following the path of Seven Seals or New Religion“
Guitarist Henny Wolter added some notes to some song titles:
Riding The Eagle is bringing back that Nuclear Fire vibe with a full speed double bass groove and those typical heavy guitar-Riffs and high speed twin leads that Primal Fear stands for. Above all it's that mix between full throttle metal and melody with Ralf Scheepers powerful vocals on which Primal Fear built their reputation.
Six Times Dead (16.6) the title track and a super heavy guitar riff, stomping groove with a new approach and a message to the fans; 100% Primal Fear!
Black Rain a nearly 7min. epic with big instrumentation, and a heavy Arabian atmosphere. Lots of variations and sophisticated playing & singing. This song strongly carries the handwriting of the new band member Magnus Karlsson, who is known for these skilful and tasty arrangements.
Under The Radar another traditional Primal Fear speed rocker, a hymn with the classic Scheepers vibe.
Torn seven minutes of pure music and the most ambitioned song & riff we've ever recorded, killer stuff, very groovy and a great melodic vocal line.
Soar pure energy combined with a driving groove, a majestic halftime chorus and a great experimental breakdown part one of my favourite tracks on the new album.
Hands Of Time this will be a real surprise for everybody. There is always at least one track on a new PF album, that is different this time it's Hands Of Time with four guys sharing the lead vocals a very cool song!
We will shoot the video clip on February Friday 13th for the titletrack of the album "Six Times Dead (16.6)" - more news on the song titles, running order, cover artwork, video clip & tour activities soon! Stay tuned - May 2009
December 23rd, 2008 - Review 2008! The Year 2008 great music, new inspiration, many new options and some of my views changed.......
The year started with a goodbye to Stefan. Even it was not like a shock out of the blue and we were all prepared for this moment, it just hurts after rocking nearly for 10 years side by side .... and Stefan is a great character. There's one chance - you can try make the best out of this situation and look for some new blood with a different background. Magnus Karlsson was just like a lucky punch for Primal Fear .....
One of the best experiences in my entire career took place in April/May 2009 the new Sinner recordings Crash & Burn! All the songwriting sessions was just fun, as I wrote songs for this album together with Igor Gianola, Magnus Karlsson & of course my partner in crime Henny Wolter. We recorded at the House Of Music studio with our touring line up and for the first time with engineer Dennis Ward, even we know us as musicians since ages..... great vibe, no discussions, just rock wonderful and the final result is just the Sinner album I’ve always wanted to record. Thanks to Klaus, Henny & Christof for a great time I hope we can come up with the same kind of vibe next year!
Later this sping, I played bass in the studio for Alex Beyrodt’s new band „Voodoo Circle“ and in the same time for the new „Driver“ album and my friends Rob Rock & Roy Z. plus I wrote the titletrack for the new Vengeance album "Soul Collector" Primal Fear 10 Years Anniversary Tour was just great.... the most touching moment was as Stefan & Klaus joined the band at the show @ the H2O Magnus proved that he’s not only agreat songwriter and guitarist NO he’s a fantatsic performer and a sensational combination with Henny! This was a new dimension for Primal Fear on all shows and the following 16 festival appearances with highlights like Sweden Rock, Bestfest, Bloodstock or Summer Breeze
Höör , Sweden was the place we laid the foundation for the new Primal Fear album. Magnus owns a nice house with a recording studio at a lake in the south of Sweden. Henny, Magnus & me had a very creative & magic week @ Magnus studio, followed by two more shows with Primal Fear for the first time in Russia. Especially the show in Moscow was incredible with a fantastic & loud audience!
My new project ..... in January08 I met my friend Alex Scholpp again and as always we’ve talked about writing and recording some songs together, but this time it was for real and we needed just some more months to realize a new project or better to form a new band and write a soundtrack together for "My Final Day". Together with my former Shiva brother and Ex-Leaves Eyes & Atrocity drummer Martin Schmidt, we worked very hard over the summer on a strategy and modern musical direction for this new band. Joining us is singer Nena Schock (Sincezero), in the meantime one of my closest friends in real life and Timo from the band “Mindead“. I really love this band and it’s just a nice fresh breeze in my musical life. We will continue in early 2009 with our recordings & more songwriting!
Voodoo Circle received a lot of good feedback by the media, and we signed a deal with AFM Records for a December 08 release. The new band by guitarist Alex Beyrodt has a lot of potential. With Simple Minds drummer Mel Gaynor and PC69 singer David Readman plus keyboarder extraordinaire Jimmy Kresic, a hell of a Line-Up with cool musicians. The music is just classic rock with a lot of attitude. Let’s wait what will happen next year with some sonic shows!
SINNER was ready to go on tour again in November and for the first time in 10 years we came back to the stages of Spain and Italy. The band could keep their great spirit and rocked every entire night like it was just for the last time! We had a bar on stage instead of a side-drop built by my friend Tommy and behind the bar was stage-manager Neil Witchard to sing backing vocals and serve some special drinks for the ladies. This was not only a concert, it was entertainment for the band AND the fans and 80 minutes of total mayhem, fun, spirit & attitude! Crash & Burn!
Primal Fear entered the studio straight after the Sinner tour and even there was not a lot of time to recover, we had a main target after all the trouble at the New Religion recordings, we want to do a lot of things different this time! We worked a lot on the pre production this time, even we were always on tour, but finally it was just the right vision. .... Maybe it is not a wise decision to record music with over 80 minutes playtime in these days, but we were just in a great spirit and very well prepared. The recordings were totaly different this time creative, smooth, rocking, focused and always peaceful the first part of this creation of an new album is already done and we’re damn proud of the result. Primal Fear will go 3 steps back to their Nuclear Fire roots and another two steps ahead ....... real metal, but we would not be known as Primal Fear if we wouldn’t have some real surprises in our pockets we will continue to work on the album, we will call 16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead!) on January 5th with Dennis Ward and this time again with longtime friend Achim Koehler. November 25th, 2008 - Sinner Tour Done / Primal Fear Recording ! The Sinner/Ross The Boss tour is history with 10 great shows over Europe. Well, to be honest we expected more fans in the venues, but in the end both bands did a great exciting shows show every night and all the fans in the clubs were fantastic. I'm very proud of my Sinner guys, for a great experience and all the reviews will tell us some nice things .... thanks to our crew feat. Neil (Stagemanager), Kurtchen (Backline), Bigi (Tourmanager), Achim (Sound, formerly known as Bacardi), Michl (Merch), Ron (driver) - RTB = Ross, Patrick, Carsten & The German Hammer, Gun Barrel, plus all the true believers who travelled from us from show to show & Frank Suepfle & M&S Promotion! Great moments and great fans everywhere! You can find a lot of pictures in the GALLERY sections - thx for all the shots and that we can use them!
THANK YOU & see you soon, Mat-Christof-Henny-Klaus
We will start with the recordings of the new Primal Fear on Thursday @ the House Of Music studio. Updates soon!
November 06th, 2008 - Latest NEWS! The start of the SINNER tour is coming closer and we will meet on Sunday for the last preparations and drive together to Spain to play the first show in Barcelona on Tuesday!
Everything is prepared so far. Great crew, great guys on board and a nice setlist, based on a lot of new Crash & Burn songs and of course some classic tracks plus some surprises! I'm looking forward to rock again with 'The Fabolous Sinner Four' ;-) - we've added a special guest band to the tour - GUN BARREL will open the shows and be there when they start their set - cool band!
PRIMAL FEAR 16.6 - we've cut the Primal Fear song list for the 16.6 recordings from 20 to 15 songs last weekend, as we played the final shows of the year. Thanks to Hammerfall's Joacim for inviting us and the guys & promoters in Switzerland - cool show!
Back to the 16.6 songs .... it will be a heavy decision which final 12 songs we will record for the new album! We're all so excited of the material, that we could record easily a double album! But anyway, we have to make our decision soon. We will finally start tracking the drums, on November 26th @ The House Of Music studios near Stuttgart, with engineers Dennis Ward and Achim Koehler. We're already talking to the promoters in various territories about the next world tour and some very special events in 2009 in support of the 16.6. release!
MY FINAL DAY - we've recorded some more vocals on the songs and the project is shaping up fantastic - wow, to be honest I'm really excited and I had the same kinda feeling as we started Primal Fear in'98. We're working on some more vocal lines these days and we will go back to finish the vocals all 3 singers in January incl. Nena's lines and our new guy Timo from Mindead. Later maestro Alex Scholpp has to record some crazy lead guitars and Martin has to finalize his drums, before we can mix the first five songs and present the soundtrack to the public!
VOODOO CIRCLE release dates are finalized now: Japan Nov. 22nd (King Records) - Germany Dec. 5th, RO Europe Dec. 7th (AFM Records) - expect some acivities from Voodoo Circle to be announced soon!
I'm working on a brandnew look for my Website and make it even more crazy and easier to communicate. I hope I can publish the brand new MatSinner.Com page in December! At the moment, I can highly reccomend the new HINDER album "Take It To The Limit" and I'm still listening a lot to the new Shinedown album. Just finished reading another killer book by my favorite Jean-Christophe Grange called "Flight of the Storks" and I will start reading Nick Hornby's "A Long Way Down" (thanks :-) - that's my update for today - enjoy your life!
Hope to see you all on tour during the next days, some chats & some drinks!

October 15th, 2008 - NEWS Update! Yes it's time for a big update, because too many things happened and will happen during the next months! Let's start with a sincere THANK YOU to everybody for giving the new SINNER album such a great feedback! Please use the ticket service on this page for the forthcoming shows in Germany & Switzerland to buy your tickets! It's great to bring the Crash & Burn songs and of course some Sinner classics to the road and it's so cool to come back to Spain & Italy after such a long time! Let's have a big party, some drinks & Born To Rock! I've uploaded some full new Sinner songs on my official My Space Page, if you haven't listened to some new songs yet ;) and here's a new interview from Powermetal.De in German
Last week, we could finalize the last parts for the forthcoming VOODOO CIRCLE album, the new band put together by my good friend Alex Beyrodt, with PC69 singer David Readman, Simple Minds drummer Mel Gaynor and keyboarder Jimmy Kresic. AFM Records will release our debut album on December 04th and if you like classic rock in the Rainbow/Purple vibe, you have to check out this album - you can already listen to some soundfiles here - Voodoo Circle on My Space!
Primal Fear is busy with arranging and pre-producing the final songs for the forthcoming album - working title 16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead!) - everybody is thrilled about the so far 16 songs, we really can't believe it! Our guitar dream team is all fired up and Magnus adds a new dimension to our songwriting. And even this time, we can promise another modification in the Primal Fear sound, a surprising album with some very new elements and a lot of real back to the roots Primal Fear metal! We will start to record at the end of November '08 until January '09 with the plan to release the album in late May 2009 on Frontiers Records and their partners! Watch out for some more updates on the songs, team & touring plans in the next couple of weeks!
If this is not enough, I can report about a very new project, we've started some days ago. I always want to start a project with my good friend and guitarist extraordinaire Alex Scholpp (Tarja, Farmer Boys, Dacia), but our both schedules were too busy during the last years and even now. But we've received an offer to write some music for the forthcoming apocalyptic movie MY FINAL DAY and this was our now or never wake-up call! Joining us are former Atrocity drummer Martin Schmidt and Nena Schock on vocals. We've recorded four songs so far and we're working with an additional singer now. The music is groovy, brutal, modern ..... something different and we have a great vibe in the band! Watch out for first photos and soundfiles from the MY FINAL DAY project soon!
More plans for 2009 ..... aside I'm working with some great artists on their new video clips (more new reg. this later), I have plans to work on a new edition of my book, released on Dec. 2006 as The Book Of Seven Seals, this time as an international version with a lot of updates and new stories under the working title SIX TIMES DEAD!
........ and last not least some music I'm listening at the moment - strange, but amazing songs are coming from Del Amitri 's singerJustin Curries first solo album What Is Love For. Then I can highly recommend the new Shinedown album - The Sound Of Madness .... till the next time!

Please check my My Space page for a new sample of the forthcoming album Crash & Burn and don't forget - the album will be released on Friday or maybe Monday in other European countries! Here are two more nice reviews in German language from the mighty Rock Hard magazine and Nuclear Blast web:
